Previous Recipients Shelley Ota, an HBEA Member for over 15 years was the recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Service Award for her commitment to business education through her activities as the Leeward Community College’s Business Technology Division chairperson. She is a zealous advocate for career and technical education classes and programs, and has fought many battles for the Business Technology Division. She is a strong and effective leader and has provided guidance to the division, especially in the current areas of program and course review. The HBEA Outstanding Business Educator is described as “one in a million” and attended every HBEA State conference for the past 12 years. Kathy Hill is known for her interactive teaching style and clear presentations. Her dedication to business students is unsurpassed as she puts in countless hours in preparing and delivering clear and organized lectures, and doing everything she can to assure that students learn. She was a pioneer in Distance Education enabling students to take accounting courses via cable TV since 2001.

Awards Again this year HBEA members have the opportunity to recognize an outstanding teacher and student, in the business education arena. Please take a few minutes to review the criteria and help recognize service and excellence by nominating someone for these awards; deadline for nominations is December 1, 2008.
